Can therapy help me to bring my life in balance, and keep it there?

This fundamental question is asked by almost everyone with whom I am privileged to work. Yet let’s be clear- keeping our lives in balance can be challenging. When things get off center in one area, other facets of our lives are impacted as well. Some of us may have never felt fully balanced, and we seem to continually struggle to find what we truly desire or what feels right to us. My name is Susan Lourme, and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist. Most importantly, I am dedicated to helping you bring and keep your life in balance.

Good news: if you are reading this webpage, you have taken the first step towards attaining balance. But what does balance really mean? What will it mean for you in your life? Balance: a state of equilibrium. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, equilibrium is:

“A state in which opposing forces or actions are balanced so that one is not stronger or greater than the other – a state of emotional balance or calmness.”

Whether your goal is short-term resolution for a specific concern, or a longer-term in-depth exploration of something more pervasive, I am committed to partnering with you through the next steps to help you find your balance.

  • First we explore your questions and identify your specific concerns  and objectives for change
  • Next we identify what balance means for you and how it would look in your life
  • We then establish where you are at, acknowledging your starting point, and work together in a way that corresponds to your particular needs. We continually check in and assess how you are doing, all the while enhancing and promoting emotional balance and calmness.
